Marc Maron to premiere his new TV show at Moontower!

You already love him for the grouchy, hysterical back-and-forth he does with his expertly chosen guests on the WTF podcast. You love him for his real-talk, open-book stage persona when he does stand up shows around the country. And you know you’d love to hang out with him, eating barbecue, drinking beer and talking shit about celebrities.

So why not let the man who’s seen it all and done even more take over your television set, too? Luckily, IFC television is putting Marc Maron on TV. FINALLY.

WTF on IFC

WTF on IFC

We’re ecstatic to announce that you’ll get a chance to see his new show, Maron, at the Moontower Comedy and Oddity Festival in a special advanced badges-only screening at the Stateside at the Paramount theater on April 26th, with Maron himself in attendance.

You already knew he was going to be at the Festival, performing standup on April 24th. Now you get to also watch him watch himself on the big screen at the Stateside on the 26th before he then does a live recording of WTF later that night with a live audience.

Watch or listen (or now SEE) the man doing his thing, and you’ll get what millions of comedy fans across the country have been talking about for years now. He’s a damn genius, and a sober, startling voice of reason in a vapid, broken universe.

So is Marc Maron now going to become the new King of All Media? There is an opening for it, I suppose, after Howard Stern traded that title for a chair at the hosting table on that grating summertime reality show, America’s Got Dancing Ventriloquist Magicians.

Judge for yourself at Maron’s three Moontower shows. Don’t get left out of these special events that everyone will be talking about. Just make sure you get a badge if you want to do so. (Hey, it’s cheaper than subscribing to cable and only maybe getting the IFC channel…)

And if you’re not already a WTF fan, WTF is your problem?

“Thank you, Austin! The Moontower Comedy Festival was a tremendous success. It was their first year and they did a hell of job. All the shows were great. They treated me good and I really appreciate you all coming out. I also had a great time hanging out with all the other comics, some I hadn’t seen in a long time. I was able to see Steven Wright live for the first time and that was really fucking special. Love that guy. It was really the most organized and well-run festival I have ever been involved with. Congrats, Moontower! I hope I see you next year.”                                                                                                              Marc Maron (reprinted from his 4/30/12 WTF dispatch)

From his headlining show at the Mohawk and his appearances at the Parish and Scottish Rite, Marc Maron was in tip-top form at the Moontower Comedy & Oddity Festival. Comedy Moontower caught Maron on Friday at Duncan Trussell’s “Show House” at the Parish and it was a pitch-perfect set and the most assured of all the times this bloggo has caught Maron live (and this wasn’t simply due to walking into the energy field Moshe Kasher left behind, as Maron queried). Like John Mulaney, Maron was a masterful raconteur when recounting his doings in Central Texas (in his case, a trip to Opie’s BBQ in Spicewood, TX). Listen to Marc’s most recent WTF epidsode #275 (with Chelsea Handler) to hear him retell his hilarious and epic “Q” run (and also say some incredibly nice things about Moontower). And Marc (and gentle readers), MT2 is already on the books for 2013!

*A note to current and prospective badge holders. Single tickets will be available for each performance. The VIP badge grants you access to all performances, with no need to purchase an additional ticket. The “You Betcha I’m Somebody Pass” gives you access to each performance, except those at the Paramount. For Paramount shows, “You Betcha” badge holders will have pre-sale access allowing them to get a jump on the crowd for the big shows. The “You Betcha” badge, while giving you the most bang for your buck as a great overall value badge, gets you access to the shows after VIP badge and single ticket holders and does not guarantee admission. However, the Festival will hold a limited number of seats set aside for these badges at each show for those first in line, so early arrival is suggested. It is suggested that “You Betcha” badge holders also take advantage of the special benefit of exclusive pre-sale access to purchase single tickets to “must see” performances and ensure your entry.

To purchase tickets for individual performances as well as festival badge ($129) and VIP badges ($799), go to www.moontowercomedyfestival.com. You can also get them at the Paramount Theatre box office or by calling 512-474-1221. The box office is open Monday – Saturday 12pm – 5:30pm and is closed on Sundays.
