If you’re on Twitter and follow anyone remotely funny, you’ve already received this terrible news. Comedian Patrice O’Neal, who suffered a devastating stroke last month, passed away this morning at the age of 41.
Heralded as a brilliant act and a staple of the comedy world in recent years, O’Neal suffered from diabetes and died of complications from his October 19th stroke. Past television appearances include Chappelle’s Show, Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn, Arrested Development, and a recurring role on The Office.
A regular guest on Sirius XM’s Opie and Anthony radio show, Opie tweeted the sad news today: ”Yes it’s true that our pal Patrice O’Neal has passed away. The funniest and best thinker I’ve known. PERIOD.”
Best Week Ever has the classic footage of O’Neal at the Charlie Sheen Roast; you can view it here. Rest in peace, Mr. O’Neal. You will truly be missed.
